(Almost) Wordless Wednesday: Do Not Disturb

(Note: Do you see the boot on Astrid's back right foot? She wears that to keep safe and clean her benign tumor that is very slowly yet surely healing. She typically wears the boot only when going outside, but in these pictures she plopped down for a nap before it could be removed after a walk. Okay, now I'll stop disturbing her.)

Our Tip of the Day:

Keep in mind that any wound on your furbaby's foot should be closely monitored, as the feet are not only very important parts of the body, but also highly vulnerable due to direct contact with the environment. If you find a sore on your furbaby's foot, especially one that is raw or unhealing, it might be best to schedule for your vet to have a look at it. For some foot sores, a vet might prescribe antibiotics to combat infection, since the foot interacts directly with the dirt and debris found on the ground and floors. For cats, there's also the risk of infection from using the litter box, which inevitably houses its fair share of bacteria. In addition to the question of whether antibiotics are needed, your vet can advise you on the proper cleaning and overall care of a foot wound. In some cases, wrapping a wound might be the safest option, whereas in other cases wrapping it might only lead to an unwanted abundance of moisture and therefore further complications. When in doubt, turn to a pro. Don't let those cute little paws go ignored!
