G is for...

Has anyone been following the story of April, the pregnant giraffe over at the Animal Adventure Park in New York? It seems like much of the world is eagerly awaiting the arrival of April's little giraffe calf, who in turn seems to be in no hurry to make an appearance.

Do you see where I'm going with this? Today is the day for the letter G in the A to Z Challenge, and a famous long-necked lady named April happens to be a giraffe. Giraffe indeed starts with G, so this one's for you, April.

Our doodling ode to April the Giraffe is also our contribution to the Caturday Art blog hop, hosted by the ever lovely Athena.

Happy Caturday!

Our Tip of the Day:
Kitten season, the predominate time of year when cats reproduce, is upon us. This is a crucial time of year to remember the importance of spaying and neutering, so as to reduce overpopulation of cats (and even those pups!), and therefore so that fewer and fewer furbabies will be left searching for a home. Spaying and neutering your kitties and pups is not the only way that you can help homeless animals and shelters during the overwhelming kitten season, though. You can of course work to spread the word about the importance of spaying and neutering, such as by blogging about it or urging your friends and family to have their kitties and pups spayed and neutered. In addition, you can of course donate to shelters and rescue groups, such as in the form of time, money, and goods. Another way to help during kitten season is to set out food, water, and shelter for any stray or feral cats or kittens in your area. Of course, there is also the option of fostering or even adopting from a shelter or rescue group, so as to give a furbaby (or two or three!) a much deserved home, while at the same time freeing up shelter space for other animals in need. There are a number of ways we can all help out during kitten season, so do consider calling your local shelters and rescues to find out how!

That is such a great drawing. Love the eyes on the giraffes. April will have her baby when she is ready. Have a great day.

Awww...very cute giraffes. And excellent tip. I always volunteer to bring people's cats to get fixed if I find out they haven't done it yet. I also donate my toys to shelters, but I can't foster, my heart won't let me. I would never be able to give up a cat I cared for, I admire those that do.

April! We are very happy to meet you and think you are an adorable animal! Remember to stay outdoors, that way you won't have encounters with any of those inconvenient ceilings! Thanx to your caring human for her tip of the day. Good idea/reminder of how to help.

Absolutely love the expression on your giraffes' faces. I heard about that impending birth at least a few weeks ago. Didi't know it hadn't occurred. Saw a newly born giraffe years ago at the National Zoo in D.C. So cute! Hope to see you for selfies. Well, I look forward to when April and baby can be seen in real life, but for now I love your art ... and I wish April well. As for kittens and rescue, I am with you. My neighbor and I catch the strays dumped in our unincorporated area, get their shots and spay them then find a home for them. We haven't put any in a shelter yet, but I fear I will soon run out of people who are willing to take them. Yes, kitten time should be a time of joy, but it isn't for far too many. Thank you for keeping the message out there and we can only hope for happy endings for many.

Those are the cutest giraffes! The mom says she thinks she is the only one not interested in April and when she'll have that baby.

I haven't been following the giraffe but we were watching a kitty who's about to pop kittens. Such an invasion of her privacy.
