Friendly Fill-Ins

Happy Friday! We're ready for the Friendly Fill-Ins challenge, and we'd love for you to join us! My co-host Ellen of 15andmeowing came up with the first two fill-in statements, and I came up with the second two statements.

1. This summer, I plan to _________.

2. My favorite food at a BBQ is _________.

3. You'll find me _________ at a party.

4. _________ is the silliest thing I've ever argued about.

My answers are below in bold.

1. This summer, I plan to bask in the glory of air conditioning.
(I'm not a fan of heat, especially extreme heat. I do love being outdoors, but in more moderate temperatures. You know, not when it's 90°F with a heat index of 110°F. When it is that hot, I try to stay indoors and enjoy the wonder that is air conditioning. Is it autumn yet?)

2. My favorite food at a BBQ is the good ol' cheeseburger.
(I love me a hamburger topped with melted cheese. I also won't pass on the watermelon, though. Actually, I'll just take both.)

3. You'll find me nowhere at a party.
(I don't enjoy parties, or any social gathering for that matter. So, you probably wouldn't see me at a party, because I just wouldn't go. If I were forced to attend a party, though, you'd probably find me hiding in a corner, or at the food table. If the food table is in a quiet corner, even better.)

4. How to eat a slice of pizza is the silliest thing I've ever argued about.
(At least in my family, I'm the minority who likes the pizza crust perhaps more than the actual pizza toppings. I save all the crust to eat for last. My mom is the opposite of me, eating her crust first. My dad and sister each fall somewhere weird in between. One time a few years back, when we were all having a pizza dinner together, we ended up in a humorously heated discussion on how to eat pizza, all of us certain our way was the best way. It was all in good fun, but a fly on the wall probably would have thought we were having a major argument, because the proper eating of pizza got us that excited.)

Flashback Doodle of the Day

Tip of the Day

Over the past couple of days, we've talked about the option of having cat grass available for your kitty to snack on or play in, or even using artificial grass to give your kitty a mock grassy area for napping or playing. Today, we're yet again expanding on this idea by suggesting that, if possible, you can start a cat a personal little garden for your kitty's enjoyment. Of course, this is assuming that your kitty does not put itself in any danger by having access to a large quantity of pet-friendly plants.

So, what could you put in a cat garden? First, of course, you could have cat grass and catnip. Also don't forget about valerian, which is a great alternative to catnip. Another option is cat thyme, which is known to make cats feel more content than plants such as catnip. Keep in mind, though, that some people find the odor of cat thyme to be rather unappealing. The traditional thyme herb is also non-toxic to cats, if you're looking to give your kitty even more variety. You can plant these goodies in separate pots throughout your kitty's favorite room, or you can plant them all together in one large pot, to give your kitty his or her own little jungle. An added bonus is that, if you have other plants in the home that are pet-friendly but which you'd like to keep safe from curious paws and teeth, offering a cat garden can help distract your kitty from those other plants.

It is worth mentioning that some sites online will mention adding other plants or herbs to a cat garden for more variety. If you are looking up such information online, always be cautious and careful to double check the safety of any plant you place in a garden for your cat. For example, lemon grass and chamomile are sometimes indicated as safe for pets, but such plants have been known to cause issues such as upset stomach and vomiting. Another example is parsley, which is typically harmless in small amounts, but which can lead to sensitivity to the sun and sunburn if consumed in large quantities. When in doubt, of course consult a veterinarian regarding safe plants, or visit the ASPCA's list of toxic and non-toxic plants.

We had similar answers for #2 and #3. I love my a/c too. I can see most of this summer will probably be inside. All this pizza talk is making me crave pizza. LOL I do love the crust and I eat it last, too. Happy weekend!

I enjoyed all your answers. I am with you on the a/c and cheeseburger. :)
I save my crust for last too and I give my hubby hell for not eating his. Eddy is adorable. Cute flashback and great tips too. Have a wonderful long weekend. XO

1. I exist in air-conditioning. When I was a kid in New England, Winter mornings were frigid (Dad didn't like to spend money on "comfort" He would turn on the furnace in the morning and we kids would go stand on the floor vents.

2. Cheeseburgers are classics. But I didn't like cheese as a child, so it was mustard AND ketchup for me. Then I discovered smothered onions and pickles.

3. I agree. I help in the kitchen to do something useful, hand out food, talk as I walk through...

4. I've made hom-made pizzas for decades and used to even add flavors to a rolled crust edge before the companies did. It use to just KILL me to see plates of uneaten crusts afterwards, LOL! My friends all considered the crusts like watermelon rinds.

Loved these questions...
