Friendly Fill-Ins

Happy Friday! We're here with the Friendly Fill-Ins challenge today. Are you ready? In case you missed the fill-in statements yesterday, I'll share them again below. Ellen of 15andmeowing came up with the first two, and I came up with the second two.

1. I won't pay more than _________ for _________.

2. The last _________ I _________ was _________.

3. I recently had the opportunity to _________.

4. _________ is cause for celebration.

My answers are below in bold. As always, they're accompanied by explanations that are probably needlessly long-winded. The only one not related to furbabies is my answer to #1.

1. I won't pay more than $1 or $2 for a bottle of water.
(I am a huge water drinker. I don't regularly buy bottles of water, but instead I just drink tap water, though I do usually drink it filtered. I went to a concert with my sister a while back and they didn't allow you to bring your own drinks, so I went to the concession stand to get a bottle of water. It cost me $5 for one bottle. I decided to refrain from doing that in the future. From now on, if I have to spend over $1 or a max of $2 for a bottle of water, I'll just go without, thank you very much.)

2. The previous laptop I used was essentially eaten by Thimble.
(Okay, I'll be honest, Thimble didn't actually eat my old laptop. Nevertheless, Thimble, my sweet little tabby girl who won't even eat cat treats, more or less chewed my old laptop up and down and all around. If I left the laptop unattended, I'd find her chewing on its corners relentlessly. She once even chewed one of the corners so hard that she popped the laptop's screen out. I didn't think its display would work after that, but I popped the screen back in and it worked fine. After enough teeth and paws had their way with it, though, my old laptop simply had to retire.)

3. I recently had the opportunity to discover cats online who are specially abled just like my Evan.
(I'm not great with social media, but I have slowly but surely been getting better at using certain social media sites. Most recently, I've been trying to get more into Instagram, as that's one that seems relatively user friendly to me. While perusing Instagram, an algorithm must have realized that I love cats, and special ones at that, because it started recommending a variety of hind limb paralyzed cats to me. Now I am following a multitude of cats online who, like my boy Evan, are hind limb paralyzed. I'm not sure I can express how happy and excited that makes me.)

4. Adopting a companion animal is cause for celebration.
(Adopting a kitty, pup, or other companion animal is a wonderful thing for both the adopter and the adoptee. I think most of you know exactly what I mean by this.)

It's time for your Friday Eddy fix. Today, Eddy wanted you all to see how much she enjoys her favorite cat's company.

Eddy is not a huge fan of other cats in general, but she sure does love her some Evan. Do you see him behind her in this photo? Eddy seeks him out often. Evan usually tolerates her pretty well, but sometimes she's a bit much for him. She can't help it. She loves him so much.

Oh, and don't mind the background of this photo. Laundry day makes my house look like an actual disaster. Eddy always enjoys laundry day, though. Digging and rolling in blankets and clothes is one of her favorite ways to pass the time.

Happy Friday, friends!

Flashback Doodle of the Day

We have yet another wacky bookish doodle to share today. This one is a flashback, though, from early last spring. Our doodles have been weird for many years now, a fact that you all are hopefully used to.

Tip of the Day

Next up in our National Pet Poison Awareness Month series of tips is a quick discussion on rodenticides. We rather recently mentioned these, but we'll mention them again for this month of poison prevention. These chemicals, meant to kill mice, rats, and other rodents, are dangerous all around. Depending on the type of poison, rodenticides can cause any number of potentially fatal side effects, such as internal bleeding or acute kidney failure. Ingesting the rodenticide itself is of course one way in which your furbaby can be poisoned. In addition to this, though, if a rodent ingests the rodenticide or walks through it, and then your furbaby gets a hold of that rodent, the poison can also pass into your furbaby's system this way.

To be safe, simply try to avoid the use of rodenticides completely. If rodenticides are being stored or used in your home, garage, garden, or other areas, absolutely ensure that your cat or dog cannot reach them. Also monitor your furbabies if you think rodents are in your house and a rodenticide is being used, to ensure your cat or dog does not catch or eat a rodent that has been poisoned. Severe side effects can result from rodenticides, for both the rodents, your furbabies, and even wildlife. So, please do all that you can to avoid their use.

You were right not to buy the water, that’s simply price gouging. Love Eddy and Evan together, and how your illustration. Thanks for hosting the fill-ins!

Lorraine,

We have a filter on our tap (separate faucet). We use old plastic soda bottles to carry water in when we need to be away from the house for awhile. This is tons cheaper than having to buy it when you're out. $5 is crazy expensive but concert concession stands as well as others are robbing their patrons all without using a gun which is crazy. When they put restrictions on food/beverages forcing people to buy from them then they know they have them at their mercy. Next time you'll know and will be prepared. Make sure you have a little before going into the concert and chew gum. That helps me tremendously!

Every cat needs a bestie, even Eddy!
Wow. I thought Bear was bad. He chewed the corners of my laptop ... permanently "disabled" the touch pad ... and popped off the space bar so many times there was no putting it back on. Oh, and that HUGE fang mark in the printer cable. I told him if he left the space bar, he could take the "x" but I guess that wasn't satisfactory.

It's so much fun to find a group who are comrades! I recently discovered a FB group that is as much inthrall with a particular author's works as I, and it's a blast having others to chat with.

Adoption is definitely a cause to celebrate. It's rewarding for everyone involved. Water prices can be crazy depending where you are. Have a great weekend!

I love all your fill-in answers. That is so cool that you found more able bodied kitties like Evan on Instagram. I almost had the same answer for #4. That is so sweet that Eddy loves Evan.
That is a cool drawing. Excellent tips too. Have a nice weekend! XO

Our first cat Micky enjoyed gnawing on power cords... We were lucky, nothing bad happened.
Adopting a pet is one of the best things to do in life for everyone involved, you are so right about this.
Have a great weekend

Great filling in today......these were wonderful sentences - thanks for your two! LOL The photo of Eddy with her beloved Evans is sweet. It's nice that she likes to be with him even if he's a little "non committal" about having her by him.

Hugs, Pam

I wonder what made your old laptop so intriguing to Thimble? I don't think I've ever bought a bottle of water. Nothing but tap around here.

I loved your answers today! The first time I was forced to shell out $2 for a bottle of water was 2000 in New Orleans but it was hot and humid and miserable. I find it sinful that people enjoy ripping us off! I remember a Paul Harvey comment ages ago. When Perrier water was the in thing! He said, it is more like LA sewer water! I love the nonsense in the commercial for Fiji I think it is. They say untouched by humans! Does that water jump out of the spring into a bottle? Hmmmm.... or is it a trick!? Hee Hee Hee! You always have the best photos here. Oh my goodness, I love the precious felines posing. Mine is a lazy slug who enjoys sleep only! Oh yes, also bullying puppies! But I sure love seeing the feline fur babies who enjoy their photo ops! Have a great weekend! HUGS

I didn't notice the wash until you pointed it out. Nice that Eddy has a furrend and can take a non-blurry pic. MOL! Nice answers and thank for hosting.
