Friendly Fill-Ins and Festive Flashbacks

Happy Friday! Who's ready for the Friendly Fill-Ins challenge? I'll share the fill-in statements again, and then I'll share my answers. Ellen of 15andmeowing came up with the first two fill-in statements, and I came up with the second two.

1. I am going to give _________ a _________ for Christmas.

2. I sleep _________ hours a night.

3. My home is decorated with _________.

4. _________ makes me feel festive.

My answers are below in bold.

1. I am going to give my sister a box filled with black cat goodies for Christmas.
(My sister loves black cats, as she should. What's more, she's owned by our stunning black cat housemates Toby and Winky. So, this year I went on Etsy and found all sorts of handmade items starring black cats, and that selection of black cat goodies will be one of her gifts from me. I even found a homemade black cat planter, which serves two purposes for my sister who loves not only black cats but also plants and gardening. It's amazing what you can find on Etsy.)

2. I sleep various numbers of hours a night.
(I'll admit that I need to get a better sleep pattern down. I currently don't have a set bedtime or time that I get up, though I do intend to change that. My issue isn't even that I stay up too late. It's the opposite, actually. I often fall asleep while watching TV with my kitties, and in doing so I sometimes fall asleep by 7 pm. When I do fall asleep that early, I might then find myself getting up the next morning at 3 am or 4 am. Other times I fall asleep at 10 or 11 pm, and then I may or may not sleep in a bit. I really need to set myself a better sleep schedule, as I know I function better when I have a routine.)

3. My home is decorated with cats.
(Not only are there 6 actual cats running amuck at my house, but a lot of my house decor is none other than cats. My Christmas decor includes lots of cats, and I'm not even referring to the living, breathing cat ornaments in my Christmas trees.)

4. My furbabies' Advent calendars make me feel festive.
(I have a little homemade Advent calendar that I use to keep track of the days for myself, but it's my kitties' and pup's Advent calendars that really help me feel festive. I've mentioned this before, but pup Astrid has an Advent calendar filled with a small cookie of a treat for each day leading up to Christmas, and the kitties have an Advent calendar that allows them a new toy each day. As soon as December hits and we start those Advent calendars, it really feels like Christmas. A couple of bonus things that make me feel festive are of course Christmas tunes, Christmas movies, Christmas decor at my house as well as at other locations, and of course a Christmas read or two.)

For today, your Eddy fix is a flashback. It includes a couple photos that were first snapped a couple years ago, and we've shared them probably every Christmas since then. These are, after all, some of my favorite photos of Eddy.

Do you see that broken ornament starring Winnie the Pooh and his friends? These flashback photos were taken in the last year that we put ornaments on our Christmas trees, because of sweet little ornament killers like Eddy.

Wishing you a festive Friday!

Flashback Doodle of the Day

Today's flashback doodle is one from last year that was of course inspired by my incredibly helpful kitties.

Tip of the Day

We're nearing the end of our Christmas tree tips, but not just yet. Today's tip is to be aware and cautious of edible tree decorations. Whether they be something such as candy canes, cookie ornaments, or strings such as those made from popcorn, be very careful if there is anything edible on your Christmas tree. This can be dangerous if your furbaby eats potentially dangerous goods off of the tree, or even if they eat too much of an otherwise safe human food. Of course, a furbaby trying to reach edible tree decorations could also lead to falling trees and related injuries. So, for the sake of your furbaby and the tree, it is likely best to avoid decorating with edible goods. As we've said before, it is still possible to be festive, but do be sure to keep your furbaby's safety in mind as well.

By the time Christmas comes, with a new toy every day from their Advent calendar i will bet your cats have more toys that the pet store. Good for them! It makes me smile to think of them playing all over the house.

Eddy is a beautiful ornament killer. We have a few of those ourselves, so this year we have a metal tree someone was giving away and i am just going to put a battery operated candle in the middle and call it done.

Great fill-in answers. We're pretty good with the tree and, so far, haven't killed any ornaments.

Hahaha, look at the kitties hanging from the wreath and tree! Hahahaha!
When I decided to solve my insomnia problem, one task was to find a bedtime and stick to it! Also, have a dark room with no TV; bed for sleeping only, not for TV or books. We also made the smallest upstairs room into my bedroom, so street noise doesn't bother me.
Good luck!

Great fill-in answers. My house is decorated with cats too. Your sister is lucky, sounds like you found some perfect gifts - I hope she doesn't see this post. :) Great photos of Eddy in the tree- that would be a perfect Christmas card. Cute drawing too. And excellent tips, as always. Have a nice weekend. XO

Well done filling in........Love the photos of Eddy - fortunately our 25 lb. Ted is not interested in climbing the Christmas tree because we all know what would happen if he did! HAHA He does love to lie under the tree so we clear a spot for him among the gifts and my husband's "under tree" train set.

Hugs, Pam

Love those wonderful pics of Eddy! Did you make the advent calendars for the cats and Astrid? How cool! TW gave me a Fancy Feast advent calendar which I LOVE. She has a terrible sleep pattern also. Since she can get up late, she never goes to bed until 2 or 3 am. Then gets up a bit after 4 for my walkie to my kibble and then 5 or 6 for my breakfast and then she finally sleeps until 10. This week she had early appointments 2 days so she tried to get to bed earlier (HAH!) to get up earlier.
