Friendly Fill-Ins

It's Friday! Is that not the most wonderful feeling in the world? One great thing about Friday is the Friendly Fill-Ins challenge. Who's here to play along? In case you'd like to join in, I'll share the fill-in statements again below, followed by my answers. Ellen of 15andmeowing came up with the first two, and I came up with the second two.

My answers are below in bold.

1. My favorite Christmas (or Hanukkah) drink is hot cocoa.

(I'll admit, my stomach answered this one for me. I love me a warm, rich cup of hot cocoa, especially with a peppermint twist to it. I actually haven't had any yet this season. I'll be remedying that very soon.)

2. This holiday season I will miss some of the local festivities.

(I don't enjoy going out on the town all that often, but occasionally there is something that lures me out. A couple of events I actually enjoy are Christmas festivities in my local area. One of these such events that got canceled, or at least majorly altered, was a large Christmas tree showing that my mom and I go to every Christmas season. This is probably the primary thing I'll miss this Christmas season. Both my home and work life allows me to still see my parents and sister on a daily basis. So, despite the pandemic, my family will still be having our usual Christmas festivities, for which I am very grateful.)

3. I would like Santa to bring health and happiness to my loved ones.

(I would like both my human and furry family members and friends to be healthy and happy. Do you hear that, Santa? Can you bottle that up and put it beneath the tree his year?)

4. You might find broken artificial tree limbs under my Christmas tree this year.

(I use artificial Christmas trees, for a variety of reasons. After years of being climbed by cats during the Christmas season, the two Christmas trees I put up are starting to attain permanent damage. The plastic tabs into which the artificial limbs are snapped are cracking and crumbling away, tree limbs are no longer able to remain in place, the limbs bend and sag quite abnormally, I have to rebuild the trees on nearly a daily basis, and all that jazz. It would seem it's about time for these trees to retire and for some new trees to meet my cats.)

It's not time for this month's blooper blog hop yet, but it's bloopers that Eddy has for you today nonetheless.

I've been trying to get photos of Eddy climbing her Christmas tree in my bedroom, but she's simply not cooperating. Story of my life. Hence these bloopers in which she's claiming her tree by rubbing her cheek on it. Eddy wants to make sure no one forgets who owns this tree.

Festive Flashback of the Day

I love me a good ol' red Christmas truck. I scribbled this one up last year. I'll of course be sure to do at least one, though probably more than one, red Christmas truck doodle this season. We've only just started our Dickensian Christmas series of doodles, the next of which we'll share tomorrow, but after those we'll have some new doodles starring more of our typical Christmas imagery, such as what you see above.

Tip of the Day

We previously mentioned being cautious when using lights on your Christmas tree, due to the various hazards they pose, such as electrocution or a kitty or pup getting tangled. That being said, also be sure to keep this same concept in mind when putting up lights, or other decorations, outdoors. After all, outdoor animals, such as squirrels, birds, or stray or feral cats, can also potentially be put at risk by Christmas decorations. Try to prevent dangerous situations by taking precautions, such as never leaving any parts or pieces of decorations loose, as both indoor and outdoor babies could get tangled up or ingest something dangerous. When it comes to cords, whether indoor or outdoor, try to find a way to safely secure them, such as by taping them to a wall or the ground. You certainly don't have to forego decorations and all things festive, but do keep in mind the safety of both indoor and outdoor critters.
