Friendly Fill-Ins

It's Friday! What's more, it's one week until Christmas! Before we get to Christmas, though, how about another round of the Friendly Fill-Ins challenge? If you'd like to join in but missed the fill-in statements yesterday, we'll share them again here. Ellen of 15andmeowing came up with the first two, and I came up with the second two.

1. My favorite kind of homemade cookie is _________.

2. I'm a big fan of _________.

3. I look most forward to _________ during the holiday season.

4. _________ is my least favorite thing about the holiday season.

My answers are below in bold.

1. My favorite kind of homemade cookie is peanut butter.
(I had so much trouble picking an answer for this. I love cookies. Who doesn't? I'm not very picky when it to comes to the flavors of sweet treats, so I enjoy cookies of all types. But, if I absolutely had to pick a favorite homemade cookie, I'd probably grab that peanut butter cookie. Add a a bit of chocolate to it and it's even better.)

2. I'm a big fan of getting lost in a good book.
(Reading is a great escape from reality, or at least I think it is. I've always been a reader, and I'm usually an avid reader. For a few months recently, though, I sort of fell into a reading slump, and that was very saddening to me. I just couldn't seem to get into any of the books I tried to read during that time. But, luckily, I recently found some new thriller books to read, and now I'm back to wanting to read as often as possible. I really can't afford to be in a reading slump, because my list of books I want to read is frighteningly long. Oh, and of course I love reading while snuggled up with some kitties.)

3. I look most forward to Christmas Eve during the holiday season.
(Christmas Eve is my favorite day of the holiday season. It has been since I was a kid. My parents, my sister, and myself always go to church on the afternoon of Christmas Eve, and then we go to my parents' house, put the A Christmas Story marathon on the television, stuff ourselves full of festive food, open some presents, and just all around have a fun and festive time. As a kid, I always wanted to try to stay up late enough to catch a glimpse of Santa Claus. I somehow never succeeded at that. Christmas Day is also wonderful, of course, but my love for Christmas Eve stems back to my childhood, and I still look most forward to it during this season.)

4. The stress is my least favorite thing about the holiday season.
(Christmas is a beautiful time of the year. It's also incredibly stressful. I always try not to let myself get stressed, but let's be real, there's just so much to be done. Sometimes the hustle and bustle makes it feel more festive, but sometimes it's just downright exhausting.)

In true Eddy style, this little tabby girl has a photo to share today that is better off as a blooper. It was snapped in a split second when she actually decided to sit still, and the lighting is absolutely atrocious. But, it does show Eddy posing in front of her beloved Christmas tree, which stays in my bedroom year round just for Eddy's sake. What's more, can you see the single, solitary ribbon remaining on the tree?

I used to have over a dozen pretty red ribbons on this tree. Eddy removed every last one of them. Well, every last one except that there sole survivor. For some reason, Eddy deemed all the ribbons except that one unworthy to be on her tree. All the other ribbons were removed by Eddy many weeks ago.

Have a festive Friday, friends!

Flashback Doodle of the Day

Tomorrow will start our full week of brand new Christmas doodles, all the way through Christmas Day itself. For today, though, I thought I'd share one of my favorite doodles I scribbled up last Christmas season.

Tip of the Day

Today we have our final tip on traveling with your furbaby this holiday season, or any time of the year. When traveling, always think ahead to your final destination and your plans for the entire trip, and then prepare accordingly. Will you be staying with family or friends? Do they have other animals? If so, does your furbaby get along with the other animals? Will your kitty or pup need to remain in a separate room or in a cage? Or, are you staying in a hotel? If so, did you ensure that it's a pet-friendly hotel? What are their requirements for a pet staying at their facility? Consider any and all such factors, and then think ahead to what you might need to prep for your furbaby's stay at your final destination.

In all of this planning, of course also don't forget the basic necessities. Bring plenty of your furbaby's food, especially if they are on a prescription or other special diet. Bring bowls and even water as needed. If your furbaby is on medication, bring ample amounts of it, especially in the event of any unexpected delays. Don't forget any potentially necessary items, such as cages, leashes, harnesses, seat belts, blankets, toys, and even cleaning supplies. Though it may not be a pleasant thought, also be sure to make plans and preparations for any emergencies that might arise. For example, take your furbaby's medical records with you, your veterinarian's information, as well as contact and other information on veterinary hospitals located in your travel destination. It never hurts to be over-prepared, so as space allows, plan and pack anything and everything you might need for the comfort and safety of your furbaby during your travels.

We love Christmas Eve too.....I spend much of my time that night thinking about what it was like when I was a little girl waiting for Santa to come....my brother and I were SO excited it was amazing. That JOY and that ANTICIPATION - this year I have joy because we're healthy and anticipation that the virus is on its' way out............so different this year from when I was a little girl in so many ways.

Hugs, Pam

Christmas Eve is a lot of fun, although our traditions have changed over the years. The stress can get to me, too.

Love Eddy, it’s nice that she is a minimalist when it comes to decor.

Supurr fill-ins, and sadly the stress is a big festive drain, but hopefully this year stress will be less! Happy weekend xx

Great answers. I do love peanut butter but I didn't think of them as cookies. I'm not sure I ever had any cookies with peanut butter but they do sound delicious.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Great fill-ins. We had the same for #1. I have always preferred Christmas Eve to Day. I am so sad we can't have our annual gathering this year. Very nice drawing. And Eddy is adorable,no blooper there. Great tips too.

Obviously, when it comes to tree trimming, Eddy is a Minimalist. And we think that actually a pretty good picture, since Eddy is not a blur !

I love your year round tree! I've been in a reading slump for too long. My head is just so "full" I can't seem to concentrate long enough to get into a book.

Eddy, you are delightful, and this is a terrific image of you.
When I ran into a wall with my reading earlier this year, I found my way out by re-reading book series that I'd once enjoyed. And then, I found groups on FB of fans for those authors, and have enjoyed interacting with folks who are as big of fans as I.

TW is yelling "bravo" on #4. The peeps have always gone out to look at the neighborhood lit up for Christmas on Christmas Eve. It's a tradition from TW's childhood when her dad took her out. I like DJing for the annual #CatmasEve pawty. The humans are fussy about store bought cookies but love any of all cookies homemade by the cousins and Aunts.
Great pic of Eddy! Could be a Christmas card.
