A Silly Sunday Selfie with a Rhyme on the Side

Today's selfie is sort of a blooper, but it's also sort of adorable, so we thought you all might enjoy it regardless.

I asked Tonks to snap a selfie when she was in the middle of a bath. She agreed and struck a pose, but she failed to get her tongue fully back in her mouth. I don't mind that one bit, though, because I think Tonks and her tongue are an adorable pair. What do you all think?

As we've mentioned, while we participate in the A to Z Challenge during April, we'll be sharing our Thoroughly Poetic Thursday Challenge poems on Sundays. This is because Sunday is the day each week that the alphabetical challenge is a on a small hiatus, making it a bit less busy. So, let's get poetic.

Our poetic host Angel Sammy always shares a photo prompt to help guide us. This time around, the prompt was this fun little image here.

I usually create a new doodle to illustrate my weekly poem. Since I'm scribbling up 26 other doodles this month for the A to Z Challenge, though, I've decided to instead find an older doodle to at least sort of go with the photo prompt and to also use it as guidance. For today's poetic illustration, I'm using a flashback doodle from the 2019 A to Z Challenge, and it of course stars my calico angel Rosie.

I stuck with the our host's kitchen theme with my chosen flashback doodle, and then I wrote a poem about what kitchens are really about. This poem is also wildly shorter than my usual rhymes, which typically go on for ages.

The Aftermath

Rosie loved to cook and bake.
Friends and family enjoyed everything she did make.
One day, Rosie decided out to prepare a feast for everyone in her life,
Preparing everything from spaghetti to five kinds of pie.

Finally, in her quaint little kitchen Rosie set out all the many foods,
Inviting everyone and anyone so as not to be rude.
Rosie's house was soon filled with laughter and smiles.
It was the best party anyone had attended in a long, long while.

When the sun set and everyone bid farewell and went home,
Rosie walked into her kitchen, content though she was now alone.
But then she looked at the sink and said, "Oh bother."
Then she set to washing the mountain of dishes created by all of that fodder.

Tip of the Day

Today we're giving a tip we've mentioned before, but it heavily relates to today's poem and doodle, and so we'll mention it again. And this tip is to be aware of the dangers dirty dishes might pose. We all know there are foods and other items in the kitchen that can be dangerous to our kitties and pups, but those aren't just dangerous when freshly cooked and being placed on the table for a meal. After the meal, dirty dishes could have leftovers on them that could pose risks. If you have a kitty or pup who is especially curious or adventurous, don't leave dishes with dangerous leftovers on the counter or in the sink. And if potentially dangerous dirty dishes are in the dishwasher, make sure the door is securely closed. In addition to potentially toxic leftovers remaining on plates and the like, also be cognizant of risky utensils such as knives that were used for a meal, and be sure to not leave them sitting dangerously on the counter or in the sink. If potentially toxic scraps are put into the garbage, also make sure your kitty or pup cannot reach them there. All in all, even after a meal has been eaten and all that remains are dirty dishes and scraps, make sure any dangerous component are left well out of your furbaby's reach.

Cute raspberry, Tonks!

Rosie is right, it's fun to cook great meals for people, and a pill to clean up after.
