Open Sesame

Evan wants to know why, exactly, his door is closed.

So what if it's winter? So what if an open door makes for a cold house?

Now, how to get that door open?

Hmmm. The doorknob is up there. Way, way up there. And, of course, there's that lack of opposable thumbs thing.

If only a mancat could just squeeze through that crack there. That would be nice.

Okay, enough is enough. "Mom! I demand you open this door at once!"

Hooray!

And of course, on this Mancat Monday, I told Evan I would do a little doodle in his honor. So I drew a wide-eyed, bushy-tailed orange fella, in honor of Evan's feelings for that magical front door of his.

I just hope this poor little guy's gigantic eyes don't pop right out of his head.

We're wishing everybuddy a happy Monday! And Evan hopes that all of you furiends of ours have a bright, sunny, open-doored day!

Our Tip of the Day:
Do you have a kitty or pup with a proficiency for opening doors? As I'm sure many of you know, some furbabies are fond of opening cabinet doors, while others figure out how to open even larger doors. While sometimes this is harmless, it could certainly pose a problem if the doors being broken into are ones housing danger. For example, does your kitty open cabinet doors behind which are detergents or other chemical hazards, or behind which are hot pipes or electrical cords? One easy solution is of course to keep any and all potential dangers out of any cabinets or rooms to which your furbaby might find entrance. This is not always possible, though, and in such a case another easy solution is to essentially baby proof cabinets and other doors. So, if you have yourself a furry door opener, it might be best to look into some sort of (fur)baby proof locks. As always, better safe than sorry!

What a happy cat you are Evan to get that door opened. We of course love the drawing of you with your big eyes. And happy face too. You all have a wonderful day.

We're glad you got your door open! Mom has had to put a little latch type lock on her closet door because she's afraid that if they go away one of us will squeeze in and not be able to get out.

Evan, you have your human trained really well! The mom won't do stuff like that for us saying it's too cold right now. Phooey!

Evan is so cute, I love the last one of him smiling at the open door. He needs a little window in the bottom of the door like a ct door, but a solid window. Very cute drawing. And an excellent tip, cats are very curious.

Awww. I see why Mom couldn't resist you, Evan. When Bear really wants to get out (honestly, I think he does it to annoy me because he doesn't actually go out when the door is open ... but anyway), he'll sit and whack the knob with his paw for 15 minutes. I can't decide if he does it to tell me he wants out or if he actually realizes the knob is the way out :) Maybe both.
