Fantastic Friday

It seems like 2017 is already flying by. I mean, honestly, we're already in the second week of the year! So, we'll start off this second Friday of 2017 with the Friendly Fill-Ins, hosted by the wonderful 15andmeowing and McGuffy's Reader.

Our hosts obviously put great thought into today's fill-ins. See just how great they are?

1. My guiding word for 2017 is _________.
2. _________ class reunion.
3. Truth be told, I am superstitious about _________.
4. Lately, I have been _________.

They put such great thought into these, that my brain had to work extra hard to really do them any semblance of justice.

1. My guiding word for 2017 is can.
(No, I don't mean the kind that soup comes in. I mean the Thomas the Tank Engine I think I can, I think I can, I think I can kind of can. Too often, I settle on simply hoping or wishing for something to happen, or I settle on trying something new, only to give up at the slightest prospect of failure. So now I'm making this the year of can. Life is too short to merely hope and wish, and it's certainly too short to give up on things. So, in areas that I've been slacking, I'm going to tell myself that I can and therefore will succeed. Now, to follow through with that pep talk.)

2. I have never been to a class reunion.
(This year would be my 10-year high school class reunion. There was no 5-year reunion scheduled, and so far I have not heard of any plans for a 10-year reunion. Knowing my old classmates, reunions will probably just sort of fall through the cracks.)

3. Truth be told, I am superstitious about the number 6.
(I am honestly not a very superstitious person. I love black cats, a broken mirror in my house usually just results in a hunt for a bottle of glue, and I honestly look forward to each Friday the 13th. But, then there's the fact that I really just don't like the number 6, especially when it shows up in triplicate. This may have a little something to do with the fact that I am Catholic, and, you know, there's that whole "number of the beast" thing. So, I guess 6 is just not my thing. Which is sort of a bummer, because I was born on the 6th of my birthday month. But that's okay, because I'll manage.)

4. Lately, I have been experimenting with recipes of the (gasp!) healthy sort.
(Remember how I mentioned my New Year's resolution of really trying to eat better? Well, this goes hand-in-hand with that. I love food, especially the sugary sweet  kind. But, honestly, I am learning that there are tons of options for eating healthy, or at least mostly healthy, while also satisfying that sweet tooth and whatnot. My current experimentations involve making "ice cream" out of bananas. Sometimes I feel like a mad scientist in my kitchen.)

Now, we can't forget that today is also the monthly Pet Blogger Bloopers Round-Up, hosted by The Lazy Pit Bull.

Our camera is always chock full of bloopers. Honestly, around here, there are far, far more outtakes available than viable shots. So, we always have to rifle through our bloopers and decide which ones to go with when this day of bloopers rolls around each month.

So, which bloopers did we settle on for today? Well, our bloopers today are all about the eyes. You know, really blurry eyes.

Evan just loves getting all up in the camera's face.

And apparently so does Thimble.

And, OMC, Eddy, how many eyes do you have?!?

Toby went for a bit of eye with a whole lot of nose.

And then there's Astrid, who insisted that her blooper today show off her bone of a balancing act.

Astrid didn't seem as amused as myself about the rabbit cat ears Toby gave her in this shot.
Not to mention Thimble's blatant photobomb.

And how about some more furry faces?

Sometimes random doodles just happen around here, and that's one of those.

Wishing everybuddy a fantastic Friday!

Our Tip of the Day:
Today's tip is perhaps a bit random, and probably pretty logical, but that's how it goes. For today, we want to remind you to do your best to avoid leaving dirty dishes our for your furbabies to feast on. Whether they're on the table, in the sink, or even in an unlatched dishwasher, dirty plates are an invitation to an open buffet to a hungry pup or kitty. What's more, as we've mentioned before, some of the foods we leave behind could be dangerous or even life threatening to our furbabies. Bones are of course a danger, as can be the overconsumption of salt or sugar, and of course those no-no foods such as garlic, onion, grapes, raisins, and chocolate. And also don't forget the unpleasant symptoms and of course potential medical emergencies that could arise from a pup or kitty sneaking in fatty leftovers, or even certain spices and herbs that might not agree with their intestines. That's why, to prevent any issues, always be sure that your leftovers and dirty dishes are immediately removed from your furbaby's reach.

Those are some great fill-ins. You all look so cute all blurry. Good balancing trick, Astrid. You all have a great day.

Poor Astrid ... always getting photobombed by her feline brothers and sisters. I agree with the word "can" ... especially with respect to blogging. Sometimes I think I hang back a little in fear of putting everything into it and then finding out that I fail.

Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, you always have great answers. Can is an excellent guiding word- you should make a drawing of The Little Engine that Could for yourself. I am Catholic too so I understand your not liking the number 6. I think reunions are only fun for people that like to drink. I think it is great that you are creating healthier version of tasty foods.
Your drawing is adorable, so many cute little faces. And your tip is excellent too, we have to immediately clean off our plates or the cats go for them. Have a nice weekend.

Your word "can" goes with my word "believe"! For me, it isn't so much as believe in myself, but rather just Believe! I am Catholic; I converted from Southern Baptist at age 19. Because I believed I need to.
Your art is so cute. I hope you make a huge success of it. You CAN!

I don't have an unlucky number...but I do have a lucky number 17. Why I don't know....it is just that if any one tells me to think of a number...its always 17.

Blurry photos...what on earth would we do without them??? And now you have me very interested in learning more about ice cream made from bananas...I just bought some bananas today too. (And some ice cream...)

Years ago we had a Western Auto store. A kid came in and bought a Matchbox race car. It had the number six on it. His mama had her preacher bring the car back. She would not allow it in the house. We try to avoid any triple sixes here when we can. Have a great weekend.

Those are great bloopers! Little Bit loves to get up really close to the lens when I'm trying to photograph her, too. Mostly, though, she loves twirling around my legs while I try to take her picture so that my feet are always in the photo, too. haha

Best wishes on your CAN quest. You can do it. :)

I forgot all about the six thing while answering this question. I have an aversion to the triple six set up, too! I'd rather have to pay more than have our total come to that and David's test strips always come to the triple six total.

Have a blessed weekend. :)

Those are great blooper close ups! We enjoyed your fill in answers, too. You really put a lot of thought into them.

Love those bloopers. I forgot all about it even though I said I'd still do it even without the blog hop. TW thought she blinded me on Christmas when just as the flash went off, I lunged toward the flashy box.
