Festive Friday

We'll start today as we always do, and that's with the fun Friendly Fill-Ins, hosted by our wonderful friends over at 15andmeowing and McGuffy's Reader..

I always enjoy the fill-ins. But, I get especially excited when they're extra festive, like today!

1. I can't wait to eat _________ on Thanksgiving.
2. My favorite kind of pie is _________.
3. This year, I am particularly thankful for _________.
4. A funny holiday tradition in my/our house is _________.

See how fun and festive these are? And here are my fill-ins:

1. I can't wait to eat turkey on Thanksgiving.
(My diet is generally high in protein, but most often in the form of chicken and eggs. And peanut butter, of course. I really do like turkey, but, for whatever reason, I hardly ever prepare it or eat it other than around holidays. So, I'm looking forward to some turkey!)

2. My favorite kind of pie is pumpkin.
(Let's be honest, though, when it comes to pie, I'm really not all that picky.)

3. This year, I am particularly thankful for the health of my furbabies, especially pup Astrid.
(After learning that Astrid had a cancerous sarcoma on her toe just over a month ago, I am so very thankful that she is now cancer-free, thanks to a successful toe amputation.)

4. A funny holiday tradition in my/our house is hiding a creepy clown ornament for someone else to find.
(My great-grandma had this creepy clown ornament that always sort of freaked out my dad, my sister, and myself. When my great-grandma passed away years ago, that creepy little bauble ended up at my parents' house, where I still lived at the time. Somehow, especially around the holidays, it became a tradition for my dad, my sister, and me to hide it where one of the others would find it. Once, my dad even drove it all the way to my work place, used my spare car key, and hung it from my visor for me to find after work.)

Many of you probably know what's up next. As always, it's Eddy's turn to star on Friday!

That sure isn't an award winning shot. But, when you catch Eddy snoozing and sitting still, you simply sneak up and do what you can.

Happy Friday to all of our friends!

Our Doodle of the Day:

Our Tip of the  Day:
Even fruits might come in to play at the Thanksgiving table. So, which fruits are safe to offer as a small treat for your furbaby? If fed in moderation, berries such as blueberries and strawberries are healthy for cats and dogs, as are bananas, and also apples as long as you don't feed your furbaby the seeds. That being said, keep in mind that when fruits like apples are made into pies, added ingredients such as sugar are not so healthy for your furbaby. Of course, also remember that fruits like grapes and raisins are toxic to cats and dogs, so never feed those. Even cherries are dangerous, especially if consumed in large quantities, as cyanide poisoning can result due to the contents of the seeds, stem, and even leaves. So, among other potentially dangerous foods, don't feed your furbaby cherries, cherry pie, and most certainly not chocolate covered cherries this holiday season.

Well those are all of our Mom's favorites too. Great shot of you Eddy. Guess you were trying to get in a snooze. You all have a terrific week end.

Eddy, wow...great portrait! I am thankful for Astrid's health, too. Prayers, for sure. The creepy clown is certainly a variation of the European pickle ornament. Yikes. Funny, though! Happy Thanksgiving! Hugs.

I am totally with you on the pumpkin pie! I don't eat turkey so my favorite Thanksgiving food is anything with sweet potato. I love that photo of Eddy!

Aww ... that's an adorable shot of Eddy! Oddly enough, I think I actually like turkey more than chicken - but I'm the same as you - outside of Thanksgiving, I hardly ever have it. The only exceptions to my preference for turkey over chicken are things that aren't "meant" to be made out of either. Think turkey [only] hot dogs, turkey sausages, etc. Eww. No thanks! {random fact ... I actually prefer the cheap hot dogs with all kinds of meat in them to the beef ones ... I bring shame upon my family ;) }

Your clown tradition is so much fun! And I never bother with a turkey other than at Thanksgiving either...it's too much work!

Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, I always enjoy your answers. Astrid being cancer free is definitely something to be thankful for. I love the family tradition of hiding the clown, that is so fun. Eddy is a cutie and I love the drawing. Excellent tips too, I did not know that about the cherries. Have a nice weekend!

We love that tradition of hiding the creepy clown. It cracked us up that your dad went to such lengths to hang it from your car visor!

As for pumpkin pie and turkey. We feel the same way. Bring them on! :)

Eddy, we think this is a very dreamy photo of you. And the expression on the kitty in the drawing made us smile really big.

Hugs!
