Caturday in the Library

We're still in the midst of sharing our newest series of doodles. These doodles are all about books and cats. Today's doodle is no exception.

I really enjoy imagery of big, old-fashioned libraries. I also love the concept of library cats. Pretty much, I love the idea of books and cats, and if those two are put together, I couldn't be happier.

Happy Caturday!

Tip of the Day

Today's doodle stars some candles, among other things. Along this line of thought, let's have a discussion on a topic we've discussed in various ways before. Let's discuss none other than candles. As you all certainly know, a burning candle can be a big danger to a kitty or pup. Accidentally getting their fur too close to it, a curious paw touching the flame or hot wax, an ornery paw batting it to the floor, and other similar actions can be what make a burning candle dangerous around cats and dogs. If you wish to light a candle in your house, it is crucial that you only place it somewhere that your furbaby absolutely cannot reach it. Especially if you are not sure whether your kitty or pup can reach it, do not leave your furbaby unattended anywhere near a candle.

The above being said, there are a couple of options that allow you to enjoy candles without flames in one way or another. To avoid the danger of an open flame but to still allow you to enjoy the scent of a candle, you could use a candle warmer. There are of course still potential dangers with this option. Though a candle warmer will remove the danger of an open flame, there is still heat involved and could therefore lead to burns on curious paws. There is also typically an electrical cord involved when it comes to candle warmers, and these cords pose the hazard of being chewed on, or causing entanglement and choking. For such reasons, though there is no open flame, it is still safest to keep candle warmers somewhere your furbaby cannot reach them.

Another option is battery-operated candles. These can prevent the dangers of open flames and overall heat and burns. And did you know that there are even scented battery-operated candles on the market? Even so, you still have to be careful having furbabies around battery-operated candles. One reason is because the batteries they require can cause dangerous and potentially fatal injuries if ingested by kitties or pups. The candles themselves can also cause issues if your furbaby is a chewer, as choking or injury to the gastrointestinal tract could result.

We'll also mention that whether you burn candles, use a candle warmer, or set up scented battery-operated candles, some furbabies are sensitive to certain scents. Some scents can spark allergic responses, asthma attacks, or other issues for kitties and pups. If you do use a scented candle and notice any concerning symptoms that might indicate your cat or dog is reacting to the new scent, stop using the candle and, if needed, contact a veterinarian. All in all, if you use any candles in any form, keep your furbaby's health and safety in mind.

I could live in that library and never want to leave! No candles allowed in our house, thanks for the info - I like the new fake candles and we adjusted our lighting so we can have mood lighting if we need it or bright light too. No more need for candles thank goodness.

It seems that cats and books belong together! And no one cares if there are bits of fur in the pages...

Our Dad agrees libraries are great. Well, "were". He has 60' of sci-fi books, and had another 20' of actual science ad other stuff. But he asked hisself "what good is a 60 year old book on astronomy - everything has changed?" So he is getting rid of a lot of that. But that means more space...

Happy Caturday Art Day!! We just love seeing your doodles. We also like the big old-fashion libraries too with maybe a bunch of kitties around to keep you company. Thanks for the share. Have a great day.

A library is a great place to spend a Caturday - or any other day, for that matter. Lovely picture!
